The Fast and the Furious

Derrick and Hem have been urgently streamlining the newest version of the Charity Account (or ‘OLR 2′ as it’s known round these parts). Lots of you said it was being really slow. And you were right.

Well, we’ve fixed it. The summary data is now updated overnight which means it loads in seconds instead of, well, ages.

This is a really crucial release for all those who were frustrated with the site’s performance and we’d like to thank everyone who gave us feedback. Keep it coming.

Justgiving and NHS embark on quit smoking drive

Today sees the launch www.justgiving.com/smokefree a service allowing people to quit smoking whilst raising money for a charity of their choice.

The Department of Health approached Justgiving with the brief to build the service in the hope that raising money for charity would give potential quitters that extra bit of motivation needed to finally quit.

Woman_breaking_cigarette_lores_1 People select a charity and build an online fundraising pages in order to get sponsored by friends, family and colleagues for quitting smoking.

The site also links to www.givingupsmoking.co.uk/ the NHS site providing advice, information and support for people wishing to quit.

Here’s hoping the new Smokefree fundraising service is a great success both in terms of amounts raised for charity and people giving up smoking for good.

Should you have any questions about the Smokefree campaign, please contact James Casey on 0207 549 224 or email james.casey@justgiving.com
