Hair Today…

It’s a funny old time of year. Nowhere’s open to buy a sandwich, the daily commute is almost pleasant and we get to play with all of our new toys.

However today has just been weird so far. From time to time, we get some odd things in the post, things like Star Trek boxsets and letters pleading for funds from people who think that because we’re called ‘Justgiving’ we’re some kind of grant-giving organisation. This morning I found this waiting for me:

Dsc04332

No way. So we give it a squeeze. Hmmm feels hairy. What was inside?

Dsc04333

Yep. Looks human. The Geiger readings were low, so no Polonium 210 is involved. The only clue was scrawled on the inside of the envelope:

Dsc04334

Not quite sure what we need the luck for. We’ve also not figured out how to add it to a fundraising page either.

Jules being the intrepid detective that he is, noticed its Thai origins and found this article. We’re still very, very confused.

Happy Christmas!

Well, we’re all off to drink too much red wine and eat too much turkey. Thank you to everyone who’s read this blog in 06. Have a very Happy Christmas and we’ll see you in the New Year.

Justgiving’s Big Survey – what you told us

The Justgiving Big Survey was launched to help us gain a deeper understanding of how our member charities experience the Justgiving service.
We were delighted to receive almost 400 responses from charities – large and small.

SuggestionsboxWe want the future of Justgiving to be shaped by those who use and depend on the service, so we’re working hard to implement improvements in direct response
to your feedback.

Here are some of the improvements we’re introducing in early 2007:

Increased investment in helpdesk support:
In January we’re scaling our charity helpdesk function to help us be more responsive to your queries. We’ll get back to you on all queries within 24 hours. That’s a promise, and you can remind us of it if we ever slip up.

Charity account and reporting:
We appreciate your patience in light of some of the issues experienced with the initial version of the new charity account. Back in October, we promised we’d keep you up to date with improvements and enhancements, so here’s an update from our tech team:

1. We’ve resolved timeouts on summary pages
Previously a lot of the "how much has been raised" summary information in Online Reporting was timing out due to the size of data being requested. This data is now updated every night meaning the system is not doing calculations there and then thus delivering your data much quicker.

2. We’ve resolved Fundraiser search timeouts
Once again, any searches you do on your fundraisers will return results – quickly

3. Filtering data
You are now able to filter data based on a specific appeal (e.g. RevenueStream).

4. Duplicate refunds
We’ve also resolved the long standing issue of duplicate refunds on the Gift Aid analysis report.

5. Resource
We’ve doubled the technology resource allocated to fixing reporting issues by hiring a new, specialist web developer.

Olr2_screengrab_1_1We’ll continue to develop the reporting functionality available to you in 2007. Please keep on emailing us your feedback by clicking on the “send feedback”
link with your charity account.

Education resources:
From February we’ll be introducing a whole range of resources to help you maximize the potential of online fundraising through Justgiving:

  • We will be launching a weekly webinar programme in February. Our Client Support Manager Jonathan Waddingham will invite you to log on to special online seminars at which he will talk you through all aspects of the Justgiving service.
  • We are currently developing a series of reporting demos, showing you how to create various data reports. These demos will be available to view in your charity account.
  • We’re making a commitment to communicate examples of how other charities are successfully using and promoting Justgiving to best effect. Keep an eye out for our success stories in our monthly charity newsletter and charity blog.

Once again, we would like to thank all our charity members for the valuable feedback you provided. We’ve listened to what you had to say and hope we are putting improvements in place to enhance your Justgiving service.

2007 is shaping up to be an exciting year at Justgiving!
